I just wondered if anyone has got Google Earth. My old pc will probably be a bit slow to work it although I'm b/band. One is supposed to be able to virtually walk down ones chosen street, resort, park and so on anywhere in the world. Its based on a programme download then info is streamed hence b/band.

[IMG] I have google Earth, & it's very good.. But I find I use multimap.com more often & you certainly get very good ariel photography on it, plus all the usual stuff, route planning etc..

I have Google earth, and its interesting but some areas a covered in more detail than others.
Trouble is its usually the areas that I'm interested in seeing that dont have much detail. :D
    Still, its worth a look.

Would love to try it to see where my sister in NZ lives, but can't as it won't work on the Mac. Still she can see where I am. :( [IMG]

    [IMG] Liz,
Try looking your sister up using MultiMap.com it does work with a Mac & you do't have to download it.. It has ariel photogragphy as well as general mapping so you can look at places really well.... [IMG]

I could see my car on the drive as plain as day, went very close up on my home. Detail is astonishing.

As said above, some areas have not (yet) been done as close up.

Check out places in the USA, most of it is close up.

I used it when visiting Basildon recently Nathan and some parts of the M25 round that area are also in fine detail, you could follow the road into and out of the tunnels very clear, but not in fine detail where I live yet :(

yes, some areas are satellite imaging only and not the aerial photographs you get on high detail areas... but it's damn impressive!

if you don't want to/ cant download it try this instead... it's basically multimap.com but MUCH better...

    GOOGLE LOCAL

it has aerial photos for most places (the same places as on G Earth) and satelite images everywhere else and also does streetmaps and route planning... The image quality isn't as high as on G Earth, but it's still a fantastic tool, especially as it's online with no need to download anything.

It does seem, by your posts, to be a decient programme. Pc upgrade needed and then I can join in. It would be an advantage when about to visit 'foreign' climes to have and idea of the layout. eg:-street, house, motorway, airport, shopping etc. I imagine with time one will be able to become quite nosey [looking forward to that] In the wrong hands another subject.
I had not heard of Multimap so I will have a look later.

When I said I was going to be a commedian they all laughed, they are not laughing now, Bob Monkhouse.

I had a holiday in Rome in 2002, I had a look at the colosseum using google earth, you can get in quite close.
