:) It is in my opinion a fabulous day out.
It is nice to see what CAN be done with the show gardens if money is no object...........It's a dream land lol.
It is very crowded but there is an art to navigating the show gardens, and the floral marquees need to be visited either early or late in the day as middle of the day can be chocer bloc.
I am not going this year as it will cost two of us nearly £150 for the day and once you have had the experience..............you can see much more and get much closer by watching the BBC coverage in fabulous HD.and it is not quite as enjoyable if it rains, and as you have to obtain your tickets well in advance you just have to go "whatever the weather".......who said that?

I suspect Scotkat, coming down from Scotland you would stay overnight, and you could call in at Shiney's open day on the way home
The best day if you are not an RHS member is probably Thursday as things can begin to deteriorate after a few days.....I would avoid the Saturday, but that is the day of the big selloff which can be fun although chaotic..
So you pays your money and take your choice.

Oh hec I wish I was going now lol.

I went to Chelsea once,it was so crowded you could hardly move your arms, didnt see much.I prefer Harrogate shows ,they are wonderful ,everyone is friendly people talk to each other, plenty of advice, you can buy plants or order and get discount.good food to suit every pocket and Brass Bands. What more could you ask for brill Day out.Even better if you stay over and visit the lovely town , the valley gardens not forgetting Harlow Car rNHS garden.

We used to go to Chelsea every year for well over 20 years and always went on members day. There is no doubt that it is a fabulous show but we eventually stopped going because it became overcrowded and was difficult to see some of the displays.

If you have never been then it is definitely worth a visit but combine it with a holiday in and around London.

    Enjoy yourself :gnthb:

If you try to get round all of the show then you will probably be exhausted by the evening. When you get your programme take time to look carefully at the plan of the main marquee. You can then plan how to walk round to try and make sure that you don't miss anything. Otherwise you will be wandering up and down aisles all day :hehe:.

The outside areas are easier to navigate.

Although they have plenty of places selling food you may find it better to take a picnic. The food there can be quite expensive (not all of it) and queues can get quite long. There are plenty of grassy areas where you can sit and eat and they have chairs around them.

    Have a great time. :gnthb:

If you think you may have some time to get to our open day and meet the other GC members that are coming just let me know and I shall tell you how to get here (about 30 minutes from Liverpool Street Station to our local station). :)
