Wow...! What an exercise! :thumb: All is guesswork from me, as I'd have to wait one or two weeks to be able to check the one or two I have... Meanwhile, it just occured to me that it would be a lot of help to put a tape measure or a coin (or anything else that we can compare to) next to the plant so we could see the size of their leaves...

    - Looks like some kind of Viola
    - Geum perhaps
    - Alcea, but definitely a Malvaceae, my Sidalcea is very far behind, although looks very convincing
    - Cirsium - nooo, Cynara? perhaps, I had C. card. from seed, then froze them - Echinops, most likely, never had one
    - No idea although those purplish veins do ring a bell

And now for the first round... I must be a moron but couldn't find it in the first place. BTW, do you know why the ID section I just discovered today is not located here, under the general gardening page?

Well Done SussexG - my head is still reeling.

I picked leaves from three different hardy Geraniums in my garden to compare with no 7, which Victoria Plum got absolutely right. And it still looked more like a buttercup. :D
