I'd like to identify a tree which overhangs my arbour from my neighbours property.

It appears to have seeded itself in one of my tubs , but I'm not 100% certain it's the same plant.

After doing some research, it appears to be an Elder, but wonder if anyone can confirm for me please? Thanks.

The tree in the first two photos definitely looks like an Elder to me.
As for the third photo, I think you're right in saying it's not the same plant. That looks more like an Alder seedling to me. Wouldn't be surprised if it is, if you have an Alder tree anywhere near your garden you are bound to get plenty of seedlings appearing, they have a habit of popping up all over the place.
Alder trees normally prefer growing near rivers and streams or in moist areas, do you have any of those near your garden?

Thanks for the confirmation re the Elder :)

Don't have any streams or rivers near my garden unfortunately, but will Google Alder to investigate a bit more.

      Thanks again for your help.

1 and 2. Agree with Trunky. Sambucus nigra. Common name Elder. The leaves on this are pinnate..
On one stalk are several leaflets.

      3. Sorry I am not sure what this is.
It is definitely not Elder, as it has single leaves.

However, the leaves are completely the wrong shape for Alnus glutinosa. An Alder. These are much rounder and fatter and not pointed on the tip.

        Thanks :dbgrtmb:

I compared the leaves on the third one with Elder leaves and although they are very similar in shape, the other plant has red/purple stems on the leaves, which the Elder doesn't.

Oh well, it will be exciting to see what it grows into!

On closer inspection I think you're right Silver surfer, the leaves don't really match Alder all that well. :o
So, having another stab at number 3, I think it could be a wild cherry seedling.
        Prunus avium maybe?

        Trunky you win :love30:

It does indeed look like prunus avium :yess:

And here is the culprit I think - in next door's garden ...

It's actually two plants which I think I shoved in the same pot as I didn't know what they were, so will split them out.
