    Hi
My friend across the road when she moved from her old house (old next door neigbhour) , grew a weeping cherry tree which I dug up for her (one of many diffrent plants I hasten to add as the usless husband sat in the house !!!!) and transplanted into her front garden in the middle of the lawn (she told me she wanted it their) I did try and put her off , it had only been growing in her old house about two years but she had planted it next to the fence and had only weeped to the one side.

It has now settled in and growing realy well and flowering.

what can I do to make it grow new branches on the bare side, it does look odd , its about 5 feet tall and the branches weep to the lawn or is it just to late .

    Spruce

Is it possible to have a picture Spruce, it would help to see whether that side of the tree is dead or alive and whether it can be nurtured or not. :)

I would trim the existing branches back by at least a half. You need to force the other side into gowth.:dbgrtmb:

      Hi Spruce

You can't 'make' a tree grow branches, although some species of tree, such as willow, have been seen to grow epicormic branches from cuts and wounds. Branchlets will develop as and when needed by the tree, and only if there are adequate and viable buds beneath the bark. Your friend will just have to wait and see.
