Neglected rose trees

    :help:You will be aware by my post that i'm clueless when it comes to roses but i'm determined to get the hang of them..
    My question is just how far back can you cut a very old knarled looking rose tree? i have 2 in the garden...think they are Mountbatten and Southampton ,they have produced the odd flower but only at the very top.The lower stems look dead approx two thirds of the way up...I've really neglected them but would love to revive them !:help:

    Good morning Lolimac I would respectfully suggest cut them back by two thirds.:)

      Thank goodness you are back Woo,I need you more than ever now i'm getting a rose fetish....Thanks for advice ...i'l do that .I've ordered 6 rose trees so i'l apologise now if i drive you nuts with questions..:thumb:
