Excuse me, Aesculus, I bought a pair of those boots...........alright.:heehee::D they are a bit Ugg!!

I thought the Moths might be releasing Flares or Chaff, Ziggy:D:heehee: The RAF's "hi-tech" answer to Radar was to fill A4 brown paper envelopes with small strips of kitchen foil and stick them on the inside of the Lightning Air Brake Flaps. Then in mid flight the pilot would operate the Air Brakes which would extend out from the rear of the fuselage and the slip stream would pull the envelope from the Air Brakes spilling the aluminium strips into the air creating a radar paint that would obscure the aircraft. Very simple, very cheap and very effective. That is until MTI was invented. MTI [Moving Target Indicator} Radar had software that was able to discern the faster moving aircraft from the slower moving aluminium strip, or Chaff, thereby being able to identity the target.......Oooops!!:D
