All the council houses round here have been fitted with solar panels too. I want to know why I'm paying £1200 a year for someone else to have solar power? I could be putting that towards my own solar pv

Don't know anything about solar heating apart from if I stand in the sun I get hot - but 40 years ago a farmer near me installed solar panels down one side of the paving round his swimming pool. They were on the north side of the pool (facing south), stood about 4ft tall, were angled at 45 degrees and ran the full length of the pool. I don't know how efficient they were but they worked well enough for him to swimm even in the winter. They had the added advantage of being a windbreak for the north wind.
A client of mine has had about 40 of them put on one of his stable blocks. Will have to ask him why it`s not been done to the other block.
