Peppers and Aubergines -yield

I know a lot will depend on variety grown, but what sort of numbers should I expect from these plants?

Much also depends on the weather Steve, but for sweet peppers I generally average about 6 to eight from a plant.

Hi Steve, it all depends on what varieties you're growing.
Peppers are the easier of the two. You can start them off anytime now if you are growing them indoors.
For small varieties that you are happy to pick green you might get as many as 20 from a plant over the summer. If you want to grow big red peppers you'll get 6 to 8 from a plant.
Aubergines - well that's a different story. They can be quite difficult. I tried for years and got nothing. Last year was the first time I was successful with them. I grew them in the conservatory, the first year I had had it.
For small varieties like Viserba you'll get about 15 from a plant and if you want to grow big whoppers you'll get about 4 if they do well for you.
Good luck with the project. Aubergines want to be hot, hot, hot and humid.

A few years back I grew aubergine Mohican which are smallish and white and explains why the Americans call them egg plants. They did very well, mainly because it just happened to be a very good summer, as the other folks say, the weather is a major factor with aubergines and I haven't had much success in the last few years. Re: when I was very young, my father was growing aubergines, which had good taste. Now when I buy aub. in grocery, it looks very nice, but it dont have such good taste. I am looking for some good sort. In rusia they have sort Sadko, it shoul be tasty. where to get seeds of tasty aubergine. Also tomatoes. In grocery they have it with thick skin, taste is not good.
Which sort is more tasty?
