It's the same distance to my work as to where we live now jack it's only up the road
I went to primary school in the Grounds of the Church that's opposite and never new this house was there it's hidden behind a stone wall and trees

I would need permission from local council to opperate from there as I do any where but that should not be a problem if it is father law ownes a factory estate so can put van there if it comes to it and that's only a mile up the road from the old & new house

Vanilla slice with monkey blood comming right up Sir

The Grounds of the Vicarage luckle Are not on the church grounds They Are the opposite side of the road the Vicarage stands on its own plot so an Added Bonus there :)

Oh that's a shame Nick and disappointing for you. But as said before, everything happens for a reason and something else will come up, usually when your not expecting it. :)

Many years ago when my other half and I were living in Essex, we were househunting in Colchester. For weeks we held on to the details for a particular house that we kept putting to the bottom of the pile. With nothing else to look at we decided to drive out there one Sunday and have a look. Sitting outside, we just new it was right and being cheeky I went and knocked on the lady's door on the off chance she would show us round. Bingo! She was only to pleased to, it was perfect and we started proceedings on it the following day. We had nearly eight happy years there and wished we could have moved the house to the island with us. :)

So don't give up, be patient, the right place will turn up and don't discard a house that you think you have issues with, it might just be the right one!

Just make a big fuss about the mining subsidence and then offer them £50k to keep quiet about it.

Maybe there's a bargain to be had.
If it's your "forever" house, what does it matter that it's been on the market for a while.
Maybe it needs a good looking at to spot the horrors. If there are none then bid low anyway.
Once you've done it to your taste it may be more commercially attractive anyway.

sorry to hear that Nick, are the flats and maisonettes too close to cause problems, too big, is there such a thing I'm often reading posts about greenhouses and getting the biggest you can as you always need more space :WINK1:, ok so a greenhouse is probably not the best comparison to a vicarage and big gardens.

I suppose you do have to look at long term, and your father in law does have the knowledge, I can totally understand you being gutted though, I'd probably be in tears by now :dunno:
