And yours is the 1.9 engine that I referred to in my earlier post - strong as an ox, and thoroughly reliable if kept serviced properly. Your oil will be the same as mine for that engine (VW 507 spec), so about £50 a can; by the time you get all the associated filters, you are looking at £110-£150 in service parts alone, with the cam belt, tensioner and water pump adding approximately another £100-£120 to that.

I still reckon you have had a decent deal.

It may not be "posh" but it's Grand.
Yorkshire should be a Nation in it's own right. Every bit as worthy as either of the other 2 independant "Nations" of the UK.

My husband and I bought our car when we lived in Eire, Its an OPEL Astra TDI 1.7 estate,if that means anything to you all. It was a 1999 ,when we came back to UK we had it registered :dunno: and its now a T, it has got 95,550 on the "clock" currently,When we went abroad for the winter we would disconnect the battery, and cover engine with foam,on our return, reconnect battery start car ,most times it would, odd occasions AA,
It has a German engine (vers sprung dirk):heehee: much to the amazement of the Vauxhall dealer ,we even had to open the bonnet to prove it.
2 weeks after my husband died it had to be MOTd ,pass ,attention needed to bracket on exhaust ,which I have had done ,that was a rip off 25 pounds for a small weld,my garage don`t do welding.
It may not be as nippy as it was but as I only local nowadays it will do me ,few scags and scars over 50% done by others in car parks but no rust or broken bits.
