Local flooding near me in Cockermouth is the worst I have seen it with floodwater in the town centre and some roads closed by the Police. Parts of the A66 are flooded down by Bass Lake nr Keswick. Gusty wind and horizontal rain are the order of the day and todays forecast is for 10inches +of rain on the fells... We've already had a months rain in the last 48 hours.

It will be dangerous to travel through or around the lakes as this water runs off the Fells, so please for safety sake..STAY AWAY.

    Steve...:)

Steve, how are things this morning? We have just been watching the BBC news and they were showing how bad it was. They were also saying that a bridge at Lorton had collapsed as well:(

I do hope and pray that everything turns out ok for you and the people of Cockermouth as it looks pretty bad.I have just put on the ITV news and they were saying that it was quiet bad in Keswick also:(

:) Oh Man...........I just feel for all those poor people with water flowing through their lounge............That beautiful countryside just covered in water.
We were there thee weeks ago and remember comenting,we had never seen the lakes so full or so much water laying around.
I believe it is the wetest place in the country and I CAN believe it as everytime we look at the weather forcast down south it nearly always forcasts rain for the Cumbria............Wainright must be turning in his grave.
I believe there is some restbite today,so take care you guys up there and I hope it returns quickly to the beautiful paradise that we all know and love.

It's a terrible situation up there :(. Being flooded out of your home is horrendous and very traumatic. Also, a lot of the businesses up there may not survive. We wish everyone up there the best of luck.

Sorry Steve :flag: you're the third person from up there that has asked us to come up but we are too busy getting ready for our travels abroad.

Not much Photo wise as movement is very restricted for oviouis reasons..

Main street is at the bottom here, another street behind and the river beyond.
