Just remember you Stoptobers , the first 20 years without cigs are the worst !:snork:
No really , for me after about 6 months , I had no physical or habitual addiction , I used a nicotine inhaler after the patches course finished. The first 2 weeks do last forever , but then before you realise you have done 4 weeks- 8 weeks - 3 months - and then 1 year !:dbgrtmb:

Pack of Fags = £7 (approx) since latest rise.
Thats £49/week if you ONLY smoke 20/day.
That equates to £2,580 per year saved if you keep of the fags. That sounds like a great Holiday fund.:dancy:
                If you're a heavy smoker - the mind boggles.:rolleyespink:

Giving up makes economic sense. I wonder how much the Road Tax and Petrol will have to go up if the Government initiative to support Stoptober ACTUALLY HAS THE DESIRED EFFECT.:dunno:

Mum, hope you've kept your promise and stopped yesterday. I stopped on 1st June 2010 and apart from a couple of slip ups (that I regretted almost immediately - they taste vile!) I haven't smoked since.

I used my local NHS STop Smoking Service - like AA it uses the group therapy and support system and I found it really worked - I didn't want to let down my fellow stoppees!

I was offered the nicotine replacement therapy but also Champix (google it) and went for the latter. It worked for me, but it also means that when I have a craving, I have no crutch to fall back on. Yes, you will still get cravings, but they get less as you go on and last less time.

I also offer the money incentive - if you stop now, think what a fab Christmas you will have, in terms of paying for it!

Good luck - you can do it :)

gcc- the amount lost in revenue from tobacco sales will be outweighed by the savings in smoking related illnesses.
