Does anyone know what this is? It's really unusual with what look like tendrils coming out of the ends of the leaves terminating in smaller cup shaped leaves.

    Anyone any thoughts?

Sorry can't help you with this, but Longk a fellow GC member, specialises in unusual plants, he may identify it for you. :)

I can't help on the id at all.

I'm tempted to say that the "leaves" that are growing from the leaves are in fact spathes. The flowers (probably) should have been there, most likely on a spadix.

Where are you living Amazing Gecko?

I was thinking on the same lines as you Longk - thought maybe it belonged to the Spathiphyllum family.

Me too, but the growth habit looks all wrong and the leaves look quite plump. I was wondering about the Kalanchoe family...............

      Thanks for everyone's input!

Thanks for the correction. My knowledge of plant anatomy is still pretty basic but I do agree that they look different from the leaves and wouldn't be surprised if at some point some flowers developed.

It's so frustrating not knowing the name or what its requirements are.

Would you say that it might be a succulent type plant?

I don't think it's a succulent Longk, but the spathes do remind me of a Peace Lily, I'm wondering if it's that family of plants.

      Looks slightly succulent to me.
The smaller leaves on what appears to be a tendril seem to grow from the underside of the midrib of the leaf, I'm wondering if its some kind of climbing succulent.
Would be interesting to know if the long leaf extensions actually show any tendency to twist around anything if they get the chance, and do they form after the leaf has reached full size.

Its the kind of plant Strongylodon (Clive), might know.

The first picture my thoughts went towards a Bromeliad, but then in the second the stem growth is a bit stiff and woody for these.
