Do the core users on here, you know who you are need counselling because we spend so much of our time on here ....

    • Are we addicted and dont realise
    • Do you have a nose about without logging in
    • Are we like other people who constantly check mobiles or do that as well, just in case we miss somthing
    • Are virtual forum members better than close friends/family that we see face to face
    • Should GC offer Counselling as the gardening bug gets so addictive
I use as leisure/relax time rather than just watch the tv when its cold wet and grey outside, hey sounds like the whole of 2012 :snork:
    What do you think

Nah. Addicted maybe, but not the 'dont realise' bit:)
Not me. I ticked the box to say keep me logged in, so GC is always logged in for me.
Not me. I only check my phone if either I'm expecting 'incoming' or I actually heard it make a noise.
GC is a bit unusual as a forum, to me at least, in the sense that people here are 'real'. At least I assume that's the case because I've sent physical post to people on here and received stuff from people, and even actually spoke to one on the telephone.
Its good to see people face to face, and its good to chat on a forum. Both have pros and cons. If someone says something you're not sure about on a forum, you can just wander off and think about it or even ignore it. Its harder to do that face to face, but at the same time, text on a screen can only portray a tiny part of someone's personality, mood, and general character so inevitably you only get part of the real message.
Yes, it could be done online, so you have to log into GC to get it:biggrin:

I come on here so much just because I like the banter and useful info, but also because TV rarely interests me at all, so if I was to try to watch TV, I'd just be bored. Computer is on most of the time in the living room, so I just sit here and read and type if I'm in and about. Otherwise I'll be outside doing something or other, not always garden related.

The friendliness of the members and the info shared is all so much more interesting than watching some of the TV programs. What's the time gotta go and watch Emmerdale - only joking got friends coming round.

                  Ditto to all the above
Better time than watching TV, better company and nicer people

As said above, we seem to know each other as genuine people, having met, spoken, or exchanged mail of some sort

Got to go now the therapist is at the door

I can't put it any better than Clueless to be honest. I'm a member of a few other forums (been a member of Digital Spy for nearly 8 years for example), yet there are none of the others that feel as 'comfortable' as GC does. I fact, I post more here than I do on DS simply because I prefer the level of conversation here - that, and the fact that it is clear how friendly, honest and genuine all of the regulars are.

I was searching for advice on begonia planting back in the spring, when GC came up on a Google search - instantly I could see what a genuine bunch everyone was, which my reason for joining rather than gleaning the info I wanted and moving on. That first impression was backed up by the friendly welcome that I received from you all, followed by infinite patience and advice to help me through my gardening year.

Addicted? Hell yes, and loving every minute of it!

I remember a post about supporting your local nursery as opposed to the big garden centre. One of the gang here fell in love with a plant but hadn't got the money on them to pay for it."No worries mate" said the nurseryman "I always trust a gardener to pay me later".
And that's how I feel about you lot - I trust you.
I have TV on in the background as my OH is watching - there are VERY few instances when I will log out from here and go over there to watch anything - maybe I've just grown out of it - who knows? I may lose interest here IDC but I sincerely hope not. It's good to chat with like nutters who get up early just to go out and see whether a plant has taken/survived or bloomed when the rest of the neighbourhood is still :snooze:.
Aaaww - go on then one of ya - counsell me :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
