Any ideas of what these are?

    The things with the white stalks, no leaves and whose only purpose seems to be delivering seeds. They've appeared over the last few days, come up quickly, open and drop seeds almost immediately. The seeds are quite large (for seeds!), round, flat and red, you can see them on the soil next to the left hand stalk.

    The only things that have previously been in the tub were begonias.

    Those look suspiciously like Crocus seed pods. Certainly that is the way some of the early Spring bulbs seed around.

    Thank you, Palustris! I think you're spot on - there are crocus bulbs in there but I've only grown them from bulbs before and didn't realise they did this. In that case I shall let them get on with it and hope for a lovely crocus filled pot in the spring!
