Its on the news now that Nelson Mandela has died. I was taught at school about the changes he made, a legacy that will live on for a long time if not forever.
As said, not unexpected, but so, so sad. One can say many nice things about this man, but the thing that always impressed me, was his spirit of reconciliation. A lesson for all of us, I think...
There are not many men who have had such an effect on the world, politics, his friends, fans and his enemies. To be, at one time, at the mercy of a Racialist Government, sentenced to a life in prison on a rock, and yet from that rock be able to be freed and become a World Leader just because of his presence and ideals is something that no other man has done. He will always be among the Greats of this World for all the right reasons.
So sad to lose such a real and rare gentle man. There have been few, if any, world leaders of his stature in recent history.
R.I.P. Nelson Mandela. What a tremendous debt - not only South Africa but the whole world owes to this great but humble peacemaker, Jenny namaste
Such an outstanding personality for peace. R.I.P. Some years back Mrs Shiney met him and said that he had an aura of peace all around him. He was passing through her office but made time to smile and say a word to everyone.
Rest In Peace my friend. He once said I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
