I think, but I'm not 100% certain, that by recycling it, they mean they burn it in the solid fuel fired power station a few hundred yards away.

I think the fire brigade (both public and the on site private one) might have started to gain the upper hand about a couple of hours ago. Everything now stinks of bonfire, and as we know, bonfires only stink when they're not burning too well.

I wish the wind would change and give some of it to Grangetown and Southbank, on the other side of the works. They'll be used to the stink of fire. They've got the fire brigade training school where they routinely set fire to a concrete building to practice their skills.

The christmas bonfire is still raging, and the latest PR moo poo news is that it will rage until at least the end of the week.

Its 120,000 tonnes of waste wood that's been standing for several years. When I had my little incinerator bin if I filled it up, set it off and left it to burn out, it would last a couple of days. When I last drove past, the wood mound had reduced, by my estimates, by about a third, and it was still raging, so there's no way its going to go out by this weekend.

That means for the whole of my christmas break, we've all been stinking of bonfire, and sometimes to the extent that it comes into the house and makes our eyes sting. Just at the end of our street, which is closest to the works, people are saying the ash has been raining down in their gardens. Great for their plants I guess, with all that potash, but not pleasant when it lasts for weeks.

            Here's the latest news.

I'm pretty annoyed about it all. Not because there's a fire. It could have been prevented but that's not why I'm annoyed. Its because the official PR coming from the firm can be translated as 'we couldn't give a stuff about local residents, we're more concerned about our resources and the risk of getting done by the environment agency'.

Sorry, bit of a rant there, but after nearly 2 weeks, with no sign of respite, its bugging me now.
