In the latest futile attempt to clear up my ongoing chest lurgy, I've harvested some sage to make an infusion. I often do this. Sometimes I see what I think are either aphid eggs, or actual dead aphids floating in my drink (I do rinse the leaves first, but not everything comes off).

I ponder for a moment, then shrug my shoulders and drink it anyway. Creature and all.

Does that just mean I'm a realist and not too fussy, or just plain weird?

I think you don't need any help from a few bugs to make you weird. :) :blue thumb: :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I'm not in a position to comment - as a child I ate all sorts of bugs and worms in the garden. never did me or my winged brethren any harm...

I made a cuppa from the kettle in the caravan that had been sitting around for a few weeks, didn't find the dead woodlice till I got to the bottom of the cup

You want to get some Victory V's for your chest, they'll shift anything :)

It's rather like drinking wine in the garden whilst gardening and you notice some wine (fruit) flies floating in your glass full of wine, so do you?

              1) Ignore them.
              2) Fish then out using your muddy/manure covered fingers.
              3) Tip it away, take your boots off, go indoors, wash hands & glass and pour a fresh glass of wine.

One sunny afternoon years ago, I was in the beer garden of a pub and I saw a bloke come out with his brand new pint. By the looks of it he hadn't even taken a swig of it yet. As soon as he stepped out of the door a wasp landed in it, so he poured it out:yikes:

Personally I'd have done as I've often done in that situation, I'd have fished it out. They quickly pass out when exposed to the cold of the beer, so you can pick them out without them stinging you.

Also on with creatures, I, like many many people, have eaten blackberries straight from the bush in the wild (always above the dog wee tide line mind). I do this knowing that if you collect them and bring them home to soak for a couple of hours, the surface of the water ends up covered in dead creatures that were hiding inside the berry clusters.

Shouldn't think drinking dead aphids will cause you any harm clueless, although you may get an irresistible urge to hide under a leaf next time you see a ladybird or a blue tit. :snork:

As for the chest lurgy, have you tried sucking on a fisherman's friend?.....
