    Hi there.

I'm really enjoying my first real garden! I would appreciate a bit of advice though.

While everything seems to be ticking along nicely, I'd quite like to plant some evergreen ground cover to 'fill things in' a bit.

Something quite low growing that won't take over what I already have would be ideal.

I'd really appreciate any advice you could give.

    Many thanks.

Hi Ted, welcome to GC. How long have you been in your new home? The flowers in your pic look to be spring flowering bulbs - do you know if there are any summer flowering bulbs or perennial plants already in there? I know you must be keen to get started but it might be wise to wait a few more weeks and see if any shoots start to appear so you don't dig up something inadvertantly that might be lovely in summer. Then you can work your evergreen shrubs in around them, and maybe have a better chance of choosing some that complement what's already planted.

(But ignore all that if it's a brand new garden and you've started it from scratch!)

Do you know if your garden is north/south facing etc?

Agree with HRG - got to put a rose bush in there somewhere

      Welcome Ted :)
I agree with the rose suggestions, maybe a miniature one? I've got a couple in one of my borders, they won't likely grow too big to crowd other flowers out :)

Skimmia. Good variety to choose from, low growing, evergreen and small fragrant flowers.

      That artificial grass?

I agree with Skimmia (which likes shade). You could also try one or two dwarf Rhododendrons.
