I bought this plant/shrub about 3 weeks ago now. I have a deep shaded are in my garden and the tag on this said it likes deep shade. I like the contrast between stem and leaf, so I bought it to add to the shaded are of my garden. However, the tag seems to have gone walkies, and I can't remember what it was called, so I can't research what to plant it in etc...
    Any ideas?

I initially thought it was a Portuguese Laurel ... Prunus lusitanica (well, I would, wouldn't I?). Had one in the UK but not one here ...

... or could it be a Photinia Red Robin ...

It's definitely not Photinia Red Robin. I have one of those and this is nothing like it. Thanks for the replies though.

The name Drimys rings a bell!

Thanks Silver Surfer. Now you've said it I'm 99% sure it said Drimys on the label.

        My pleasure.
It is a very good evergreen to have in a shaded area.
