I for one am very glad my Scottish cousins decided to stay with the UK. It just wouldn't have been the same without them.

Oh dear, the Presiding Officer of that Polling Station didn't know their job, and should have issued them with a 'tendered' ballot paper (used to be green and had to go in separate envelopes) and got them to sign the necessary declaration so it could have been sorted out afterwards. If they said there was nothing they could do, they should never be allowed to work in a Polling Station ever again.

Today, we waved off the last member of our family that was born in Scotland. He died last week, funeral today. He had made his feelings clear before his number was called. I wont go into detail, but suffice to say he would have voted No had he had the chance. It seems at least on the day of his send-off he can rest in peace knowing it went the way he'd hoped.

That gives me an interesting, if somewhat conspiratorial thought. What if the whole thing Scotland thing was 'organised' to make people too weary to think about the promised EU referendum? Just a thought.

BBC have published an interesting map today which shows in colour how the votes stacked up; kinda brings into perspective what a drubbing this really was for the SNP.

That's quite an interesting map FC. Especially making the comparison of the 'no' votes map to the map that shows the areas dominated by particular political parties.

The map does make interesting viewing and interpretation as the high YES areas are those with the greatest deprivation and probably most desperate and hopeful, rightly or wrongly, that change might perhaps offer some hope for a future that otherwise is perceived as bleak.
One good thing that has come out of the referendum is the massive participation in the democratic process and I hope that this continues in future elections at local and national level. And that those who feel they've lost don't develop a "why bother voting" mind set.

I don't think that 45:55 is a drubbing ... the 45% need taking care of, or the fallout will be a nightmare for a generation to come ...
