This evening, one of our cold weather favourites from the Greek mountains: Spetsofai - a stew of peppers, onions, tomatoes and spiced sausage - and a glass of robust red wine !!

I've not been able to eat much for the last month (loss of appetite due to illness) but I'm beginning to make up for it. :)

Home made chicken soup with very light dumplings.

Medium rare sirloin steak with new potatoes, boiled cauliflower finished off by being tossed in browned slivers of onions fried with crushed cumin seeds, butternut squash and long red sweet peppers roasted with a sprinkling of home made garlic olive oil.

Followed by Shineyland grown apples with a sugarless, fatless crumble topping of ground almonds, crushed mixed nuts plus sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

At midnight I had a snack of a fruit salad made of fresh honeydew melon, mango and nectarines.

No sugars (apart from natural ones), no creams and the only saturated fat was the steak - Yum Yum.

Correction: there was a small amount of saturated chicken fat skimmed off the soup to be used for the dumplings. The rest of the fat was discarded (easy to remove all of it by chilling the soup and lifting the solidified fat off the surface).

had the butcher take the skinless, boneless turkey legs and grid them up. Making a turkey ragu thing, with green peppers, black olives, onions, tomato sauce, garlic, carrot, oregano, basil, turkey broth, put in small pasta, cover it all with cheese.
