    Hi Palustris
I thought they were the same family so thanks for that, at least I won't have to search through them it in a sunken area by my patio and not the safest place for me my legs don't do what I would like them to do. So a huge thank you for the information I am learning so much on the forum great for us novices.

I have to have a phone hanging round my neck because I fall so easy MS is such a pain to think I used to abseil and rock climb now I have to sit in safe places and plant up pots anything more and I spend weeks recovering such a pain my brain says go on do it, then I am so fatigued I need help to get in the house. and usually out the border. Even with my long tools. I'd have been tempted to look at the leaves when the kids homer from school alas they cannot help ten ton tessy up!

Thank you so much I appreciated your reply and help

    best wishes

    Marie

To be honest, marie, I have no doubt that what you saw was the Red Lily Beetle. I've posted before on how a Lily Beetle enjoys the Sun so much sitting on a leaf that I wouldn't be surprised to see one sitting there in a Deckchair with Sunglasses and an Ice cream. I've killed many of them while they were mating which is a bonus as you get two of them in one go.:coffee::snork:

        Hi Armandii
Thanks for the picture, it was dark like the first one but it did not have black markings.
Also, one ended up in my car while I was taking our garden waste to tip, it hid in the and waited until I went to pick my sister up in the car park, then it jumped onto my sister and made her scream.

Just to add to what others have said, you'll need to keep a close eye. Quite often the RLB will be found tucked away at the leaf joint, so you'll need to gently pull the leaf away from the stem to spot them. Little gits they are!

            Hi Freddy
I was out there this morning checking for the eggs, Larvae and other bugs I was busy checking leaf joints and underneath the leaves.
Would you believe it another two beetles there today! :yikes: Having killed two yesterday I was convinced I would not see anymore since it was my first time of seeing the beetles yesterday.

I got my kitchen roll in my hand (remember I have a thing for beetles, terrified, cheeky buggers decided to be laid back about it and not even try to run :doh:so I put them on my garden table and photographed it again with my phone before I squished them in two pebbles not very enjoyable but at least they are gone yippee!

Then I found some of my leaves missing I thought oh no :wallbanging:but it was three slugs on the underside of the leaf :yikes: not happy with them either:thud: I have my bear traps they won't use them must admit I was tempted to kill them with some salt :ideaIPB:but then felt cruel :nonofinger:so put them in the green bin there is some bits I don't want in the compost heap. I expect they will escape and be eating Michael's grow your own, they love his cabbage and broad beans he won't be happy! :sofa:

Can you not get one of the bears to turn vegetarian and then he could eat all the Beatles and slugs for you :)
