The colour is lovely but the surface looks absolutely dreadful. First time I've seen a piece of vegetation that could ward off consumption via ugliness! Maybe we should start a thread about weird/ugly plants and fruits...
Looks a bit like Ugli fruit But if you want something more unusual then this citrus fruit fits the bill It's known as Buddha's Hand or Buddha's Fingers.

Had a picnic under an Osage Orange tree in Utah many years ago. These were lying all around. Still not certain though.
Yes, it looks like an Osage orange to me too. I was introduced to these fab fruit in a botanic garden.
