Just got around to reviewing my images taken at NT Bossington on Wednesday (are you thereabouts @Kandy ?)

These might be useful to show the differences between 2 similar butterflies:

    Silver washed fritillary

    Comma

I only saw one Silver Washed Fritillary at NT Bossington, West Somerset (but clouds of Commas), but still managed to get 2 images of the former.

Today at a local reserve I saw dozens of Silver Washed Fritillaries, and only one settled on a flower about 10 feet away for about 2 seconds and flew away before I could photograph it.

Grayling, folded wings make it almost invisible.

Silver Studded Blue, common where there is Cross Leaved Heath growing so there are plenty around here as there are lots of small lowland heath areas.

Been rather too wet and windy for butterflies recently, the only one settled this morning was a Small Skipper.

According to Butterfly Conservation/the media there's supposed to be millions of Painted Ladies in S & SE England.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday look like good days for butterflies, and I'll be off to a couple of local reserves.
