Hi. I have a plant that grows 2 feet in circumference, its leaves are unusual as they lay down to the ground and become roots. It flowers only once (takes 2 years to grow to final size), then all of the leaves lay down and the flowers appear in a chimney shape formation, purple like a begonia flower. Can anyone help me find out what this plant is? Thank you in advance. LadyA.

Haven't a clue LadyA but it sounds very interesting.

    Any photo available?
    - might help identification.

I think you may be describing geranium maderense.

Well In Kent its a bit too cold in winter for them so I have to grow in pots, but I understand they grow well unprotected in Cornwall.
I find they self seed in all sorts of places.

No real looking after needed, just a tidy up now and then, but as you know, dont remove the old leaf stalks, they support the plant as it grows.
