Whilst in the garden centre recently, I decided on a 'just in case' basis, to buy some 'RoseClear' to deal with possible black spot problems. Having read the packet it referred to the killing of greenfly and blackfly and the control of rust and powdery mildew but there was no mention of blackspot.

Upon asking, I was told that ' .. this year's batch of RoseClear doesn't contain the element which deals with blackspot ..' Apparently, whilst there is nothing wrong with the ingredient itself, someone at The Scotts Company (who make RoseClear) failed to renew the licence to include it!

There is still some of last year's stock on the shelves, but if you're a person who uses this product, you may just want to check that the box you're buying does have the little picture of blackspot on it.

It always makes me laugh when the powers that be, in the EU ban something.

They ban the sale from a certain date and then give us, the ones that bought the product, a few months or so to use up our stocks.

As if we give a toss:lollol:

The replacement products are usually less effective and more expensive.
