    Evening all.

The lad's class are doing a 'Silly Hat Parade' next Friday to raise money for comic relief. The teachers have asked the parents to help make the hats.

    Any ideas?

I'm sort of thinking massive horns of some sort. I'm not very imaginative you see.

Discworld Hat, flat world supported by 4 Elephants standing on a giant turtle.

Tardis hat, although a lot of other kids might do that too.

I won 3rd prize of a Ladybird book with my Wind in the Willows hat. Built a barge & used a rubber frog with a head scarf on it.

            Not necessary with Zigs around!
I wouldn't worry too much, as long as he's got something bonkers on his head that his pals can have a giggle at the fine detail doesn't matter too much.

As long as you don't get into a competition with the other parents over it...

Flat cap , a la Andy Cap , white silk scarf .And a Woodbine cigarette (unlit of course - H and S ) hanging out of the mouth, a Whippet on a lead would help as well.

Yes of course we always put a couple in the grandkids lunch boxes for school, better than a bag of nasty crisps :blue thumb:

Two suggestions - first .... just put 'silly hats' into Google images that'll give you loads of ideas; secondly, you can blow up a balloon, cover it in a few layers of papier mache (kitchen roll and a bit of PVA will do fine), burst the balloon and you have a ready-made shape to paint and decorate or cut to whatever you wish. I recall making a very creditable 'egg' (complete with chick inside and raffia 'nest') for one of my daughters as her entry in an Easter bonnet competition.

"Silly Hat Parade" immediately makes me think of anything but a hat, made into a hat.

So, begin with the "base" ...

~ a pair of trousers, using a belt to make it fit around his head
                      ~ a washing up bowl/plastic mixing bowl
~ a box (bit obvious but could be decorated creatively)
~ a towel (youngest ds won when I made a towel into a bunny, placed on his head)
                      ~ a bucket/large plastic flower pot
                      ~ a saucepan
                      ~ a hanging basket

... then, decorate to your hearts content.

Oh, just stuff an Aleksandr toy down his little waistband, that'll sort it.
