    I stayed overnight on Friday in Bradford to meet with friends so that we could visit the Space Museum as they had the Soyuz TMA-19M capsule that Tim Peak returned to Earth in.

    The Hotel was within 300 yards of the Space Museum so it was an easy walk. The Museum actually covers several subjects and not just Space over several floors so it's a really interesting place with everything laid out well. It's aimed at all ages so it entertains everyone in the family.
    There's also a large I-MAX cinema in the Museum. Now, I , and my friends, have never been in an I-MAX before or experienced 3D cinema before and because they were showing a film on the International Space Station we had booked seats. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much but I have to say I was totally in awe during the film and the 3D effects while wearing the special glasses. The 3D was so real that when a glove was floating in the Space Station and appeared to come so close, and looked so real, that I nearly reached out to grab the glove or push it away. Some of my friends admitted later that they actually did reach out to push the glove away!! When somebody in the film appeared to stand up in front of me I actually leaned back in my seat to avoid him, and at certain times things floating around in the Space Station appeared to fly past my ears:hate-shocked: If that's 3D, I like it:love30::thumbsup::snorky: Later in the day, some more friends arrived and we had to do the rounds again in the Museum so by the end of the day I was...

    Would I go again?........Oh Yes!! Would I recommend I-MAX 3D to anyone?........absolutely!!! :thumbsup::snorky:

      Glad you had a good time ARMANDII :). I've seen a couple of 3D films but not in an I- MAX.

        I talked to some people who'd watched 3D films and then who been in an I-MAX Cinema, lucius, and they said there was no comparison and that I-MAX was the only way to go!!:love30::snorky: And I really agree with them.:yes:

          If I get the opportunity I'll go. It's been ages since I went to the cinema.

            I saw Apollo 13 in the Imax in San Fransisco. It was an amazing experience. In Lucerne we watched a safari shot in Imax 3D. It was very good but it gave us motion sickness. At Reghed in Cumbria we watched a 3D film about butterflies. It was absolutely stunning. It was only a coffee stop but it coincided perfectly with the film showing. Occasionally things do work in your favour.

                  I was staying in a hotel in Bradford the day that Andy Murray won his first Wimbledon. Thankfully we got back in time to see the end.

                      The Soyuz capsule looks like a steam engine boiler. Do they still parachute the landing onto the Russian steppes ?

                        You're right, Harry, the capsule looked very basic and almost primitive but was obviously built with re-entry into the atmosphere in mind. To be honest. it looked more like an old fashioned Diving Bell and looking at it the name Russia made popped into your mind.:dunno::snorky:

                        Yepl, the Russians are still using the Steppes as a landing area for the re-entries.:coffee::snorky:

                          I hope it's one that will encourage him not to appear on everything. He's turning into one of those celebrities that will turn up at the opening of an envelope.

                          PS.... Jack i think his names Tim.

                            Well, Tim's on a personal mission to get back into Space and keeping himself in the Spotlight, while passing on his enthusiasm to Schools etc. He's worked hard to get into the Space Program and get to the Space Station and you can understand his need to get back there.:love30::snorky:
