Never ever put your car keys in a shallow left hand pocket!

Yesterday, I parked up at the supermarket. I couldn't find my key anywhere but I knew it had to be in the car or I wouldn't have got there. Eventually, I found that it had fallen down the side of the seat. Could I get it out? No. My fingers aren't particularly fat, but I couldn't reach it. I needed something pokey. There were trees in the car park. Maybe I could snap off a twig. Then I found a pen, I poked it and it fell down further. Oh no!
I jiggled blindly under the seat and eventually something moved. Phew!
It would've been an interesting RAC call - maybe they get them all the time.

I had a frantic experience with my nexus card. I was about to cross the border and discobvered it had slipped out of it's sleeve. I looked everywhere in the car. Pulled the seats all the way back and forward. No sign of it. Panic made me frazzled and after making myself calm down, I laid across the seats and felt around the edges. Sure enough, being a hot humid day, the card had slid down the side into the narrow area next to the console and stuck to the leather which of course made all the seat movement useless because it just kept hidden.

Talk about that same sinking feeling as when you think you've locked your keys in the vehicle. :gaah:

What's a nexus card? Is it a bank card?

I lost my phone, this was a few years ago, ended up buying a new one.
About 6 months later I took my car in to have some work done .
They produced my phone when I picked the car up.
Said it was down the side of the seat on the handbrake side.

            That's where they hide:mad:
A few days before the incident, I saw a pop up ad on another site. It was for a thing you poke down the side of the seat to stop this happening. Who needs a stupid thing like that I thought.

I once tried to replace the small lithium battery in my car key while sitting in the driving seat. Guess what? The new one I was trying to insert did a black flip and disappeared into the void below . I did find it after moving the seat back and forth and removing the mats. Lesson learned!

I've dropped all sorts of things down the black holes at the sides of the car seat - keys, the USB stick that I play music from in the car, pens, coins, supermarket trolley tokens, the paper tickets that the car park entry barriers in town used to spit out (you didn't have to display it but you needed it for the payment machine and then to open the exit barrier). If something falls all the way down it's sometimes easier to reach underneath from the back footwell.
