acers

hi one and all,
just bought 3x acer palmatum atropurpureumon e bay, what growing conditions does it need?, does it need pruning ,feeding etc, my garden gets sun around midday and is shaded by trees
any replies would be appreciated

 

Acers don't like too much hot sun, which will scorch the leaves. Ideally they like dappled shade. They also suffer from cold winds. If you haven't got the ideal spot it will be happy in a large pot which you can move around, but keep damp in summer. This site gives good advice:
