    Hi,

Does anyone use these types of Air Purifiers and can say if they work as described and importantly if they have actually helped relieve any conditions such as hayfever or sinus problems ?

Only looking for smaller room models like these.

I have no idea, however I do know a number of people who swear by Himalayan salt lamps helps them with allergy problems.

      *shudder*

As someone with a masters degree in chemistry I can say that most of those things are little more than expensive paperweights.

The only things that actually work are humidifiers, but you can have the same effect by simply hanging a wet towel over a clothes hanger.

Most of them (especially pyramids, himalayan salt lamps, Triangles or "(de)ionizers") are purely cash-grabs unless you like the aesthetics.

Some of them can even be outright harmful because they need regular cleaning. And since people tend to be lazy, they can be the perfect breeding ground for mold and bacteria which are then spread in a wide area due to the built-in fan.

Just clean your house regularly and you should have a better effect for less.

        PS:
Especially when fighting allergies, a doctor once gave me one of the most underrated tips ever:
        "Don't grow a beard"
There's no better way to collect a supply of pollen and always carry it around all day than with a beard. And whenever you touch it, rub it or it moves because you move, you get another shot of pollen right in your face.

Although I'm not disputing any scientific tests (if there are any that have been tried) there is still the Placebo Effect. Apparently, when placebos are given as part of a trial there seems to be an efficacy rate of between 30%-60%. Not to be sneezed at! :heehee:
