I thought I'd give alliums a go this year, although i had to grow them in pots it's been pretty successful, lots of bees and rather large red tailed bumble bees in particular I'll do the same next year but use bigger pots.

A little add-on, late on last night I noticed a bee inside the allium not wanting to disturb it I left it, early this morning I had that on my mind and went and had a look and it was still there, as it warmed up a bit it started to stir and finally flew away. So a little research and I find that bees actually sleep in flowers, probably common knowledge to most but not to me and found that quite fascinating, but that's me easily pleased:heehee: last night and this morning pics.

My alliums now have yellow leaves and the flowers are starting to die off. Is this the time to lift them? I planted them last fall and regretted where I did this.

@CanadianLori I would cut the heads off; some can seed themselves around. I have A christophii self sown in various places happily I like it. Then lift carefully as some varieties happily produce little bulblets that are easily dislodged. When lifted either dispose of or replant elsewhere.
