Another Hello from Dorset!

Have an allotment so largely into fruit and veg. Bit green I'm afraid but getting better as the years go by. If you can improve the poem feel free!

The queue for water's long,
The slugs have found my beans,
But still I'll dig and sow and wait
For perfect marrows, greens.

I talk to every sprout,
I fret when clouds appear,
A weather eye, a hopeful heart —
My plot is all I care.

No holidays, no weekend break,
Just cabbages that must succeed —
I'm mad for rows upon tidy rows,
And every blooming seed.

And when the first green shoot appears,
I grin like I've been paid —
There's joy no gold can ever buy,
In soil, and sweat, and spade.

Hello to you too @Flumpy ......... yes it's been a while but still hanging on down here. How's things with you - rubbish weather I suspect ? Took the coast road to Minehead a few weeks ago - I had almost forgotten how beautiful the views are out to sea and of course Dunster Castle still stands proud up on the hill.

 

Ho I remember visiting Dunster Mill & castle with my parents years ago lovely place and remember the massive trees in the grounds, sadly I lost my mum just over two years ago , miss her deeply. Just been looking at holidays the prices have shot through the roof abroad, did you have a nice Xmas and new year ?
