    Hi all.

I have been reading quite a few posts on here and have decided it looks like a great forum so thought I'd join up.

I have been in my house in Worcestershire for just over 6 years. When I moved in the garden was immaculate, in fact it would be fair to say it was a like a show garden, with an amazing lawn, neat borders and explosions of colour which I maintained as best as I could for 18 months or so but life got in the way and it got neglected. The kids and the rabbit turned the lawn into a battlefield-esque landscape, the borders overgrew and the the climbing plants (now rife) were harbouring wasp nests the size of rugby balls. Having been persuaded/bullied by SheWhoMustBeObeyed I took the bull by the horns and dug up/shredded/tipped all manner of weird and wonderful plants and made the garden more child friendly and easier to keep relatively clear and tidy. I used to do some tree trimming in former employment and so have a tendency to run wild when I get out the chainsaw. Most of the things that were growing ended up going. It was practical. Sadly it lacked any character and was immensley ugly. Some gravel, a bit of a lawn, a couple of die-hard bushes and a large rabbit run/enclosure took up most of it, the rest being the trampoline, washing line area and bike storage.

So, this year, inspired by the fish I have acquired from my father-in-law I have set about a garden transformation starting with the new pond. Once the pond is settled I can get to making the garden a place to spend some quality time in. Its been too long since I made use of the space and life is too short to keep putting things off.

That's my story, and that's why I'm here. No doubt will be scouring the forum for all manner of info on plant selection and maintenance.

I'll try and get some pics up at some point of the garden, as it really is a building site at the moment.

Anyway, cheers for reading and I'll catch you in the forum.

    CG
