Any ideas what this perennial is please? Flowering now, near Winchester. Excellent coloured foliage and flower stems...pouring with rain at the time. unknown perennial.jpg
Growing in what looked like fairly moist situation...though difficult to tell in pouring rain and approx 2 - 3 ft to flower height.

At a quess it looks very much like 'Blue Mist Flower' conoclinum coelestinum.
    Also maybe an 'Ageratum'.

thanks, It looks similar but the foliage is not the same. I'd wondered along the same lines: Ageratina adenophera - but once again it doesn't have that type of foliage.
