    I wondered what the general opinion is on GC about the Government adding fluoride to
    our water supply.

    Some time ago I contacted Anglian Water and asked if they were going to add fluoride
    to the water and nobody was available to speak to me.
    I think from what I have read on various websites
    that they already do add it in some areas - no wonder no-one was available.

    Personally I am very against it and have been googling :rolleyes: (as one does) and found
    the following bits from various sites.

    =================================================

    "Would you let someone put drugs in your drink at a party?
    Would you drink industrial waste with heavy metal contaminants?
    So why do you accept it in your water supply -
    day in, day out, for your entire life?"

    ===========================================
    Drinking fluoridated water
    will double the number of hip fractures
    for older men and women.

    =================================================

    Fluoride can cause Skeletal Fluorosis, a potentially crippling disease.
    Skeletal Fluorosis occurs in phases. Phase 2 includes chronic joint pain,
    calcification of ligaments, osteosclerosis and possibly osteoporosis.
    Phase 3 includes crippling deformities of the spine and major joints.

    =======================================================

    "The NRC also revealed fluoridation's adverse effects to the thyroid gland, diabetics,
    kidney patients, high water drinkers and others."
    =======================================================

    Ironically enough, the main warning sign of fluoridosis is mottled cracked teeth.
    =======================================================

    Some area of USA have decided to stop using fluoride
    And also Japan.

    =======================================================

    .................They are the kids who run home from school, drink a bottle of Cola, eat sticky
    sweets and crisps, maybe spend the evening in the local bus shelter quaffing Cola and
    most certainly dont pay any attention to their oral health............

    Why should we be poisoned for their sake? If parents have any intelligence they will
    make certain that their children know better.

    ====================================================

    There is some research now suggesting that high fluoride in the water can actually cause
    dental carries and cavities. That is the cause for the discoloration of the teeth that you
    see in the area.
    The disparity is clear. Listed as the source for why fluoride is in the water, the EPA
    states it's a "Water additive which promotes strong teeth."Yet right next to that, as the
    potential health effects from ingesting the water, "Bone disease, and children may
    get mottled teeth."
    And our water may not only be hazardous to your health, but also your home.
    "Water heaters are actually designed to last about 10 to 15 years, in West Texas
    on average they last 3 to 5," Alderson sad. "Dishwashers, clothes washers, about 30% faster.
    Toilets, sinks about 70% faster. Your clothes wear out about 33% faster just washing them in it.
    The plumbing in your house actually wears out about 50% faster as well."

    ========================================================

    Instances of diabetes are growing at an alarming rate. But have you ever considered
    it may be related to our water/fluoride?
    Selenium when it's at high levels actually is linked to diabetes, adult onset diabetes,
    which is in an epidemic right now...

    Bad Combination
    Natural-foods cooks have long scorned aluminum utensils, saying that the metal binds
    with certain minerals ââ?¬â?such as phosphorus and calciumââ?¬â?and robs foods of nutritive value.
    Recent evidence linking aluminum with Alzheimer's disease and other neurological disorders
    has added to their case, particularly in light of studies proving that aluminum compounds
    can be released from pots and pans during cooking. Now more fuel has been added to the fire:
    Experiments indicate that the leaching process is "dramatically enhanced" by water containing
    fluo-ride, at levels normally used in municipal fluoridation. In a letter published in Nature magazine,
    scientists report that water containing one pan per million (ppm) of fluoride frees nearly
    200 ppm of aluminum when boiled 10 minutes in aluminum utensilsââ?¬â? that's 1,000 times the
    amount of aluminum released in nonfluoridated water.
    Prolonged boiling raises aluminum concentrations even higher, to about 600 ppm.

    Fluoride occurs naturally in most water sources, however the amount present varies from source to source. Water that passes over rocks that contain fluoride rich minerals can contain significant amounts of naturally occurring fluoride,if anyone feels the need for more fluoride they should buy the toothpaste with fluoride added,just because parents cann't control the sugar intake of their offspring doesn't mean we should all be dosed with flouride with all its negative side effects.

    I am also very anti fluoride. Just watch these two short videos on YouTube - scary!
    Perhaps we should all be writing to our MPs, councillors etc.

    In this country you have the right to refuse medication, so, in my mind, if they go ahead and introduce fluoride into the water without our consent that is a breach of our human rights. Cue Cherie Blair. :D

    Flouride could be the thin end of the wedge, what next will our "betters" decide we need for our benefit and compulsory force it upon us.

    Its the sort of thing that even Adolf Hitler or the communists didn't come up with.

    They should be doing their best to make sure the water is as pure as possible not adding junk.

    This report from JANE JONES
    THE NATIONAL PURE WATER ASSOCIATION (UK)

    Despite the existence of an All Party Group against water fluoridation in Parliament, far too many MPs seem more concerned about scrambling up the Party ladder than paying attention to a serious problem affecting nearly six million people in the areas supplied by Severn Trent, Northumbrian Water, Anglian Water and North West Water, organisations which artificially fluoridate their drinking water supplies, ostensibly to reduce tooth decay in children. There is currently no artificial water fluoridation in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales.

    Chlorination is outdated technology - there are other, safer technologies available today. However, chlorine is added to treat the water, to make it safe to drink. However, 'fluoride' (toxic industrial waste in the form of captured hazardous air pollutants from the phosphate fertiliser industry) is added with the intention of treating PEOPLE, whether they want or need it or not. This is not only an extremely dangerous practice, it also robs every individual of his/her sovereign right to refuse certain treatments."

    Seems that MPs need a bit of a push - no make that a mighty shove - to listen to the ordinary people.

    Have we got a lawyer on GC who would take up the case against the government ? :D

    I'm not too keen on the idea of enforced medication. Was different (IMO) in the 50s and 60s when the diets were poorer because of low incomes and poor health education. Things are different now.

    Anyway, I would have on average of 2-3 fillings or refillings every year then my dentist got me using Flouride toothpaste and I haven't had a filling since! But at least that is MY choice.
