A week or so ago I started noticing yellow spots on my herbs (rosemary, thym, sage, etc) but none on any of the other nearby plants. I didn't spot any bugs... until today (see photos). I've now also spotted the same white/yellow bugs on my tomato plants and carrot tops. They crawl around but if I shake the plants it seems as if they can fly (??)
Anyone know what they are? And how I can get rid of them?? Will I have to throw away the plants?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated...

They look like thrips to me. They would explain the little bleached looking spots where they've fed on the foliage. Certainly don't throw away your plants! You can sometimes just wash them off with a hosepipe, they can't fly very well and seem to spread to nearby plants rather than go far. You need some lacewings or ladybirds to eat them really. You can buy Biological control for most things now. I think there is a nematode that'll kill them Or spray with Pyrethrin - google thrip control, I'm sure there will be something.

    Thank you!

Julie, thank you so much :-)
Now that I know what it is (I've looked it up and it is 100% sure it's thrips).
I've sprayed them with garlic water to start with and will be heading out to find something else to spray on them this afternoon.
    Thanks again :-)
