It could be a Roscoea, but without a clearer image of the flower it is hard to say.oscoea

Hi Stingo. It looks very much like a Roscoea {Ziniberaceae}'Beesiana' I have the same one and mine has already flowered and gone over.

They like a sheltered site in partial shade. They do best in cool climates, grown in a peat bed,a woodland garden or a damp shady border

The tubers need to be planted 6in deep in winter and early spring. In frost prone areas apply a deep winter mulch. They are fully hardy to frost hardy and will survive temperatures to -20 if planted very deep.Divide in the spring.

    Bulbs must not be eaten..

I had the variety 'Auruculata' which was a deep violet colour but I lost mine so I am going to dig this one up and overwinter it in the greenhouse.

Yours looks a fantastic specimen

Thank you kandyfloss and Palustris, I can't remember where I got it from! grew it in the greenhouse last year then planted it out earlier this year but think it's in the wrong position from your description kandyfloss so will prob move it in the autumn or even overwinter it in the greenhouse [IMG]
