If you had a chance to sell up and move and live anywhere you wanted in the world .
    Where would you go?

I've thought about this many times but still prefer to be where I am and to be able to travel and see the other places in the world.

New Zealand.I wanted to emigrate 27 years ago when I first saw the state this fantastic country of ours was heading into but Mr Kandy didn't want to go so we have been stuck here ever since

I doubt if I shall get there now as his lordship is frightened to death of travelling anywhere in case the form of transport we choose crashes and he gets to meet his maker quicker than he wants

I don't feel the need or the desire to live in a different Country, but nevertheless, since you ask, I can tell you that my taste goes towards Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
Definitely I would not want to be too far from Italy...

Ecclefechan. I like the Scots and I love Scotland. So I might as well choose the daftest name I can think of. :D

Actually I would like to go further north than there. Maybe Brechin, Glen Esk is gorgeous.

    Done it ... Portugal. [IMG]

Leaving here would be very, very difficult (almost unthinkable) but I think it would be the A§ores, perhaps, although that may be too cold for me in the winter.

Done the Southern US States and loved it but like Kandy, NZ has always been beckoning ... but it would have to be one of the warmer parts. :D

Wanted to emigrate to Australia when I was in my late teens, but was talked out of it. But now? My wife hates travelling , so it still has to be Australia.

[IMG] OK have given this quite allot of thought & think I would rather stay here & travel back & forth to where I want to go. I have travelled a fair bit & that is the conclusion I have come to now. Better the devil you know..

We have friends & relations in NZ & I suppose if I was to go anywhere it would be there. They are in a bit of a time warp there I think, it is how we like to think the UK used to be... Well that's what I think anyway....
So many places seem idylic, but then as you look about you without the rose tinted specs on, you start to see the realities & nowhere is anywhere near perfect or idylic.... [IMG]

My second choice would be the Isle Of Wight because for me it has everything there that I want at my time of life and I would like to rest there when I pop my clogs in the green burial site on the island, but his lordship doesn't want to live there permanatly because he says to get anywhere we would have to keep going off the island

Third choice would be Exmoor which even Mr Kandy loves but he wants to stay in the job he hates until they chuck him out in one way or another

IoW was, as you know, another of my homes ... an idyllic place ... and as I had property there I wish I knew you then when you guys visited ... shame sometimes how our lives pass each other ...

Hi LoL, it's great that you have found your piece of paradise [IMG] [IMG] .

Like Marley, we have been to a lot of places and although some of them are lovely we still prefer where we are now. What the travelling has done is to give us a very wide circle of friends with invitations to stay in different places all over the world. I know it is not good for our carbon footprint but that is the life we live.

I suppose one of the problems with some of the countries is the language barrier. Some people are much better than others at learning languages and some of us aren't. Mrs shiney is one of those people that doesn't need to learn a language to communicate. I don't know how she does it but she gets on with people so well that she doesn't need to know their language  .

We haven't been to New Zealand - yet. In a couple of weeks we shall be going there and visiting friends and touring around. I'll be able to comment on whether we would be happy to live there when we get back. :D

I have never wanted to move away from where I live.
But the last few weeks I find it keeps popping into my head.

I'm not sure where I would like to go , but feel I need a complete change.
The only thing keeping me here is my family.
Our children are grown and have a life of their own although we are still close and see each other all the time.
I couldn't leave my Dad who is 80.
    No matter what.
But I do keep getting this feeling of just uping sticks and going.
I'm feeling a bit confused
