We have a large bramley apple tree that we inherited on moving to new home. Needs a very good prune as it is extending over two neighbours fences now. Going to approach a tree surgeon - any ideas about what this kind of work might or should cost. we have no idea at all and it would be helpful just to get a guide before beginning!!
    thanks

If it has been unnpruned for years then any pruning is likely to curtail fruiting for several years or more. Most of the fruiting wood will be at the top of the tree and this is what you are cutting.

Personaly I prefer to keep pruning of old fruit trees to a bare minimum ie unnbalanced or low limbs only. Remove whole limbs rather than trying to 'haircut.

Your best bet is to get several quotes, imposible to give any sort of price without seeing it or knowing the size of it.
