I've planted a Worcester Pearmain apple tree in a part of my garden that starts losing the light mid September and is gone by early October. The garden is North facing. The tag on the tree says the apples are ready mid September so plenty of time for them to be ready but others say mid October.

Will the apples have time to ripen?

I hope you've got an apple tree near by, if I remember rightly a Worcester needs a polinator.

As cauliflower ears says, you need a pollinator for this tree. It needs to be of the same pollinating group as your apple and to be growing within, about, a quarter of a mile of it. If someone in your area has a Coxs Orange Pippin or a James Grieve then you will be alright.

There is an apple tree a few houses away, no idea what sort but the guy at the garden centre assured me that in the area where we live there will be always enough apple trees with the surrounding area to pollinate it - we'll wait and see! It was the tree being out of direct sunlight from the end of September that was the worry but unfortunately it's the only place it can go.

    I don`t see a problem with where it`s planted,johnny. It shouldn`t stop it cropping.
