Has anyone tried using aspirin water on their plants? I found this site last year and it did seem to help with the germination of seeds. I know that aspirin is dangerous to cats but worked out that my 3 would have to lick all my seedlings dry for a very long time to have any effect.

Hi jlottie I ,ve heard of people using it on fresh flowers in doors,it keeps them fresh longer, but i never heard of it being used outside or for germinating seeds.

    Morning, jj and woo.

I too have heard of aspirin in the water of cut flowers (also sugar) to keep them fresh longer but have not heard of aspirin water for germination.

It seems worth a try and don't think my 3 cats would be interested in licking the potting compost either!

Most interesting jlottie. Its worth an try. There are people who dip their geranium (Pelargonium) cuttings in a solution of vitamin C for similar reasons. I have tried it myself, but its always difficult to prove these things unless you do a controlled experiment using an untreated group as well. Its worth an experiment.
