What a moving vid! Though it is 2007. Doesn't matter though - still great to be reminded that man is not the only sentient being on this planet!

    Thanks for posting it. :thmb:

Thank you for the link to the video Shiney. Loved it.

Only if it interests you -
When I did my degree in Psychology we had to do a class in The Biological Basis of Behaviour. It was very badly lectured and all skewed one way - The Selfish Gene and all that.
We had to "read" for the degree - no internet then. It was all skewed the same way.

The final honours question for that class was - There are no nurseries in Nature. Discuss.

Well, off course there are nurseries in Nature - as I knew. But where was the evidence - anecdotal doesn't do.

Thank you for the evidence :gnthb:

    Hi Alice,
I have taken my own photos of animals where it shows that parents are allowing their kids to do things but are keeping a wary eye on them - and controlling them when necessary. :)

Off the top of my head I can think of some photos I took of elephants at a watering hole where one baby was getting out of control so two adults sandwiched the baby between them to stop it overdoing things. Also some red colobus monkeys, where a baby wanted to play with the humans and the mum only allowed it to do so when a group of other adults had collected around us - just above our heads. And a baby hippo that started to take too much of an interest in us so a group of adults surrounded it.

Blimey, i'm reminded of the far side cartoon of the pond full of frogs at the end of the runway.

I love those Gary Larson cartoons, yes it's quite surreal - I think the crocodile must have had a bit of a fright too when it realised it wasn't a giant sausage being dangled in the water.
