    Not the drink, but the Devon fishing village. DSCN1204.JPG DSCN1206.JPG DSCN1207.JPG DSCN1213.JPG DSCN1215.JPG DSCN1216.JPG DSCN1217.JPG DSCN1218.JPG DSCN1221.JPG

Not much has changed apart from the old Beer road falling into the sea.

Call me ignorant but I have never heard of this town before. Imagine saying "I live in Beer..." - sounds like an alcoholic's confession!

They still got those long rubber mats on the beach? (like gym mats from school days), looks like some in 2nd pic.

I once found a £20 note outside the Barrel o' Beer

Isn't there some metrological instrument located in this garden near the beach? It was most probably made by my Father.

Great shots, Ziggy, but Beer while having plenty of colour, looks good, but since there's no person around it hasn't got much body.:dunno::heehee:

There's normally a good view of Beer Head from the garden of The Anchor Inn on a good day

Great shots Zigs! Taken from Wiki below......

The name is not derived from the drink, but from the old Anglo-Saxon word "bearu" ("grove"), referring to the original forestation that surrounded the town.

My sister is good at finding money. I took her to Rutland for a holiday and she insisted on paying for a meal in a Pub called the Slaters Arms.....then, on paying for the meal and leaving, we walk outside and she finds two £20 notes on the ground with no one else around:dunno::snork:

We were in Beer for week when our daughter was young and went out in one of those self drive hire boats. It's worth taking a small rod out with you with some spinners/feathers (rather than using the spinner on handline supplied).

All we use was a line with half a dozen hooks and some tin foil and good gloves
