... and I can't help but feel that if our economy is built on our "service industry", then we are doomed!

    In the past week, alone:-

    1) contacted pet insurance to renew - transpires they cancelled our Direct Debit (without telling us!) months ago :yikes: With working/moving etc I hadn't really noticed it wasn't on the statements  (previously I'd paid in full in advance, so wasn't really paying attention). But, I can continue with our cover if I pack pay almost a years worth of DD's over the phone right there and then! Then continue with the renewal due now! :th scifD36:

    2) contacted Vet because Ozzy suddenly became most unwell; vet refused to speak to me on the phone; receptionist gave me misinformation  . Coupled with #1 this had the potential to go belly up. Thankfully, I kept cool - eventually (and a trip to the emergency vet) Ozzy was all sorted! A trip to the vet who owns the practise today and a break down of my experience and I'm reassured that I was a) treated contrary to protocol and b) steps were in place so this never happens again.

    3) A well known store was meant to deliver and install a rather swank new cooker last Sunday and remove the rusted-barely-serviceable object the house came with. Waited all day. No cooker. Phone call stated a "glitch with the system cancelled the delivery". Drove to the store Monday morning, explained failed delivery and that I had invited guests for Friday 5th based on having a new cooker delivered on the 30th. They rang round, new cooker will be delivered on the 4th :yay:
    Erm ... nopey! :nonofinger:
No delivery on the 4th
More excuses! So drove over and requested a refund. Money in bank, but no cooker and no chance of one by Christmas .... Friday 5th's celebrations/entertainment cancelled

    4) Running in tandem with all of this is the long running saga with BT. Still have no incoming call facility despite an engineer calling on the 3rd Dec, cutting a cable (he claimed was causing the problem), did line check, all ok .... fast forward 2 hrs ... back to square one: still no incoming calls. 3 hours of on/off calls to the call centre - sent around in various circles - they have now decided it must be an exchange issue and will call us with an update (but we can't *get* incoming calls!!!!! :wallbanging: ). Maybe they do it by telepathy? :noidea:
The customer care team did write to us a few weeks ago with a number to call and a special pin number, just in case we have any questions, queries, issues - except - the pin number is not recognised so we can't even contact the "care" team who are meant to be dealing with our issues :gaah:

You couldn't make it up!!!

Why are they called Service industries?
Anyone who bases an economy on service industries is actually "doomed" they dont make any new money.

Yep, worked that one out long ago. If you got a whole Country that is not producing any raw materials or making stuff from them then you'm gonna go under as soon as folk don't need your services anymore.

Reminds me of the "B" ark from the Hitchikers Guide :th scifD36:

Erm ... ... don't feel like I've got an arrow in my rear end, Our Mandy (just *what* have you been eating!!??? :yikes: )

BT told us our "exchange" issues would be resolved by the 8th. They are not :wallbanging:

Ok, to be fair: they *may* have phoned ... but, as I can't get incoming ... they may as well have been :mute: in the wind! (no offense intended towards any East/West/Southerly/Northerly/anything inbetween winds)
