These pointed leaves are between 1 and 2' in length. Anyone know what they are, please? [No flowers, white is cow parsley]

Not sure Liz. Could be one of the goosefoots - Good King Henry or Fat Hen. Both were prehistoric staple food crops. Keep an eye on them and see what happens. If I am right you should get seed spikes similar to docks.

Other possible - coltsfoot which would already have flowered.

I know this is going to sound stupid - but do you have lime trees near this, Liz? I've seen a lot of little lime saplings that look just like that!!!! ;)

I have good king henry in my garden, in a very sunny position. I've had a look and the leaves do look very similar in shape and texture, but are much smaller. Mine already have spikes on so I will know what to look for. Thanks both.
Dendy, I have been looking under lime trees for saplings/ seedlings for my bonsai collection, and can never find any!
