black currant tree

    i bought a black currant tree/bush in july it had a few fruits on it this year its only a young plant how big can i expect it to grow. do i cut it back for the winter or do i leave it alone

    Don`t do anything to it this year, let it establish itself. Next year it will fruit on this years wood. When you harvest the fruit next year cut those stems down to ground level to encourage the plant to grow more new growth, thus giving you more fruiting wood the following year. David.

    thanks david i was going to take it down to ground level next week .ill leave it now and see what happens next year. cheers
