It states that western countries have not put any sanctions on Russian oil.

Sounds a bit like shell is being picked on, possibly by the media.

Didn't read it all but wonder what other companies are buying Russian oil.

I can imagine that it is not easy for some of these big multinational companies to cut things off immediately.

As Russian oil is selling at a discount any company that can get away with it.

I decided to go with Vodafone, in this area you get 49MB's and it's £19 per month, and £8 unlimited phone calls (I haven't got a mobile at the moment)
                Contract is for 2 yrs.
Spoke to a very helpful chap who explained everything in detail ... essential for me.

Sounds a good deal there Michael

Think a decent mobile is essential for us oldies partic for text messages reminding you of appointments and deliveries etc.
A low cost Sim only, for about £5 a month plus a handset from places like Argos or John Lewis avoids expensive contracts.

Thank you but I prefer writing everything in a diary, can't cope with fiddly gargets that you have to recharge all the time :gaah::heehee:
But I will get one one day, it would be handy if the car broke down

Well, I'm still all mobile - broadband and 'phone - Virgin. Bizarrely when we first moved in - BT told me that I would have to pay them a lot of cash to have a landline installed - despite the fact there there was a BT socket on the lounge wall. I responded with a good stiff ignoring.

Being all mobile is handy because I can carry the home 'phone around with me in my pocket :blue thumb:.

Why on earth would you want to do that ? I really don't see the need. When I had a mobile it got on my nerves and I was glad when I lost it ... I suppose I'm just old fashioned.

Each to their own, though think we are right in the middle, but would not be without the mobile as it can be a real lifeline and as we get older and more forgetful find the Text messages reminding us of appointments a real help, even though we do write them down and then forget !

Would just add that the newer mobiles with light use can easily go at least a week before you need to charge them.

@ricky101 I think even then a mobile would get on my nerves, I'm not a gadget sort of person, they just irritate me. Even using my laptop gets on my nerves, but if you think a mobile helps that's fine, we're all different and the best thing to do is go with what suits you

Can I say, I was one of those that had a mobile just for emergencies, very rarely used and it was real basic thing.
A few years ago I bought what they were calling a Smart phone, not sure if they are still called that, just a phone now I think.

Anyway, I still think its too small, I push the wrong buttons all the time, and it gets on my nerves some times.
I probably only use it for less than 50% of what it is capable of doing, but I've always been the same with a PC.

I do find it very useful and at £8.24 a month pretty reasonable, it does open up a lot of new things if you persevere.
